Our Friars from the Basilica of St Anthony in Padua, Italy work tirelessly to bring devotees from the United States of America closer to our beloved Saint through the Relics of Saint Anthony.

Since 1995 some Friars from the Basilica in Padua, Italy have alternated in bringing to the United States of America two very precious First-Class Relics of Saint Anthony, sealed in special reliquaries.

Pope Francis then-Archbishop Bergoglio blessing the faithful with the Holy Relics of St. Anthony at the Catedral Metropolitana in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2000.

Sister Lucia of Fatima with the Holy Relics of St. Anthony, when it was taken to the nuns at the Monastery of Carmelite sisters in Coimbra, Portugal, in January 1995, during the commemorations for the 800th anniversary of the Saint’s birth.

Archbishop of New York, Cardinal Timothy Dolan and Fr. Mario Conte with the Holy Relics of St. Anthony at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Manhattan, NY, in 2013.

Pope Francis shares:

The saints give us a message.

They tell us: be faithful to the Lord, because the Lord does not disappoint! He does not disappoint ever, and he is a good friend always at our side.

Relics are parts of the body of a saint who was the Temple of the Holy Spirit.”

Bringing Saint Anthony’s message of Hope and Love to all.  May we all continue to invite Christ into our hearts and Saint Anthony into our lives.

On The Road With Saint Anthony: in particular since 2013, Saint Anthony’s Friars traveled across the United States with the Holy Relics for a total of 219 days, visiting 237 parishes, and celebrating 427 Holy Masses. Thousands of devotees have packed these churches to venerate and pray with us and for their loved ones.

We are delighted that so many have taken these opportunities to get a glimpse at the Saint’s Holy remains. When not on the road, these Holy Relics are housed at the Basilica of Saint Anthony in Padua, Italy.

Our Friars from the Basilica of St. Anthony in Padua, Italy work tirelessly to bring devotees closer to our beloved Saint; to date, the relics have toured 12 states, across large metropolitan areas in NY, NJ, CT, IL, CA, MA, FL, TX, CO, GA, PA, and OH.

Friar Mario Conte, the Executive Editor of the Messenger of Saint Anthony:

There is nothing superstitious about relics.

The real meaning of a relic is love – they are a link of love between the person who venerates and the Saint.

In recognizing that only God performs miracles, it is through the communion of Saints that we are brought closer to Our Lord.”

FRIAR ALESSANDRO RATTI, AN EXPERT ON THE LIFE OF SAINT ANTHONY:

Venerating the relics of the Saints confirms two things which we recite in the Creed: resurrection and eternal life after death.

Saint Anthony is one of the few known persons in existence to have had the privilege of the Infant Jesus appear in his arms witnessed at the Poor Clare Monastery in Arcella, Italy, before his death.

He is very close to Our Lord in heaven. Saint Anthony resurrected and is very much alive in Christ as he travels in the physical form of two relics to bring Catholics closer to Our Lord“.
